Fort Lauderdale United FC released the signing of Addie McCain, a Texas-born and bred midfielder, to its team ahead of the USL Super League season kicking off this August.
McCain first made her footprint as a sharpshooter and prolific scorer for Texas A&M, beginning in her freshman year in 2017. As just a rookie, McCain played in 22 games, starting in 17. She was one of the Aggies’ top corner kick deliverers with 31 on the season. McCain tallied 21 shots, with 13 of those on goal. Her limitless potential and blossoming skill earned her the SEC All-Freshman recognition and Texas A&M Newcomer of the Year.
Continuing to step forward, McCain became an integral part of her team due to her precision, effectiveness and contribution to attacking. As a sophomore, she played in all 23 matches, playing every minute in 12 of those games. McCain recorded 14 points on six goals, including two game-winners and two assists. She left her imprint in 2018 as the Texas A&M Most Improved Player and Midfield MVP, and United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region Second Team and All-SEC Second Team recognition.
McCain’s last two years as an Aggie were nothing short of impactful and successful. In her junior year, she played in 22 matches for 1,309 minutes and recorded 14 points on four goals and six assists. During her final year, McCain started every game, scoring five goals and executing two assists. She was awarded SEC Midfielder of the Year and to the All-SEC First Team in 2020.
Overall, McCain’s collegiate career was marked by significant achievements, amassing a total of 48 career points with 16 goals and 16 assists.
Moving from the Lone Star State to the Windy City, McCain was drafted as the 17th overall pick in the 2021 NWSL draft to the Chicago Red Stars. She flourished on the professional field, playing in 10 matches for the Current in 2022 with three starts. McCain scored her first professional goal against Racing Louisville in the 2022 Challenge Cup.
With her consistent scoring ability and mobility on the field, McCain will be Fort Lauderdale United FC’s leading goal-getter and playmaker.
